When leading plumbing suppliers, Viessmann Direct, set out to improve online support to their customers, their newly designed stock-integrated ecommerce system has significantly increased sales.
Viessmann Direct had always planned continual investment in their real-time ecommerce solution that connects customers up to the actual stock they hold on their shelves. What they weren’t prepared for was a noticeable increase in sales in just a few weeks after a re-design created an enormous 15% increase in new customers.
Managing Director, John Heighton said: “Our web planning was all about the customer journey. We are totally focused on what our customers want. They told us they wanted to see our stockholding in real time and we agreed it would be a useful tool for them. So we appointed Aspidistra to create an ecommerce solution that linked up our Sage accounts, our stock control and allow our customers to see exactly what is available and order it there and then.
“More recently, we have further developed the offering, bringing the look and feel of the whole ecommerce site right onto the front page, and the results of the redesigned system took us by storm. We have seen an enormous improvement in a short time”.

The system employed by Viessmann Direct is called Shopfront by Aspidistra Software. It is a means of integrating all the workings of Sage Accounting (50, 200 or 1000) with an ecommerce online shop. Customers can see all the stock, place orders, manage their own accounts, request copy invoices, check their credit, and pay off their account, 24/7, 365 days a year. All this happens in real time, which is vital in a business like Viessmann Direct, where a product may be needed urgently.
